Reaction of Pezeshkian to the “snapback” mechanism: “We will build Natanz and what is greater than Natanz.”
The President, responding to Western efforts to activate the snapback mechanism, said: “The West cannot stop us; they struck our Natanz, unaware that it is people who build Natanz — and what is greater than Natanz — and they will build them.”

According to the news website Sedaye Sama, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President, responded to the activation of the snapback mechanism by Europe and the United States during a ceremony honoring medalists of the International Science Olympiads. He stated that these countries are attempting to block Iran’s path to progress, but they will not succeed. Referring to the recent UN Security Council session, he emphasized that there have always been those who try to hinder Iran’s growth and movement, yet human will and intellect can either find a path or create one. Pezeshkian explained that the main motivation behind transforming the educational system is to cultivate a generation that, when faced with obstacles, seeks without hesitation to find or build a new path.
Referring to enemy attacks, he said: “The West cannot stop us; they struck Natanz, unaware that it is humans who build Natanz — and even beyond Natanz — and they will continue to build.” Expressing pride in the presence of Iranian elites on the global stage, he emphasized that the country’s real wealth is not oil, gas, or minerals, but its talented and creative youth. Highlighting the experience of countries without natural resources yet achieving success, Pezeshkian noted that every Iranian individual is a potential source of capability that can solve the nation’s problems.
The President stressed that if the field is opened for creative individuals, they can overcome all challenges, and even if the enemy destroys achievements, it is these scientists and specialists who have the capacity to rebuild and advance. He noted that his government has focused on transforming the educational system, dedicating much of its time since taking office to identifying and nurturing the talents of adolescents and young people.
Pezeshkian added that it is sufficient to believe that obstacles can be overcome; no power can stop the Iranian nation’s will to progress. Criticizing the country’s rigid administrative system, he stated that outdated structures must be broken and the creativity of youth utilized to reform affairs. He stressed that there is no time to waste: for 47 years, schools have been built, yet educational space remains insufficient, and now the government aims to resolve this problem once and for all.
He further stated that when individuals are under pressure and surrounded by obstacles, their creativity flourishes even more, and the government must fairly provide the environment for this creativity to grow throughout the country. In conclusion, emphasizing the hope of the government and the nation in the talented youth, Pezeshkian added: “You can bring Iran to the peak of progress and do not allow a criminal, illegitimate regime to impose its will in the region by force. With your capabilities, Iran can bring prosperity, justice, and fairness to itself and the region.”
During the ceremony, attended by the President and the Minister of Education, 38 medalists of the International Science Olympiads in various fields were honored.
