Iran and Russia agree to increase combined and maritime transportation


According to the Sedaye Sama News Agency, At the conclusion of the negotiations between Saeed Rasouli, Managing Director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization, Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia, and Alexey Tarasenko, Head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia, both sides emphasized the need to establish a port-maritime consortium aimed at increasing the level of trade exchanges through the Caspian Sea.

It was agreed that a port-maritime consortium would be formed between the two countries and that cooperation in the fields of combined and maritime transport would be expanded, alongside the development of trade via rail and road routes.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen infrastructure and remove existing barriers to increase trade volume through the Caspian Sea to more than five million tons annually.

The meeting also discussed the current status of cooperation and ways to enhance joint maritime and multimodal transport relations through the Caspian Sea.

Saeed Rasouli and his accompanying delegation traveled to Russia to attend the Iran-Russia Maritime Transport Cooperation Meeting, scheduled to be held on Thursday and Friday in the city of Makhachkala.
