Once again, on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (sa), the city of Tehran hosted the unknown martyrs of the eight-year Sacred Defense. The scent of jasmine—the fragrance of the children of Lady Zahra (sa)—filled the streets of the capital as these anonymous heroes were carried in the loving hands of the noble people of Tehran.
This spiritual ceremony was held on the 2nd of Azar, coinciding with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (sa), in front of the main gate of the University of Tehran, where people, with tearful eyes and hearts full of reverence, bid farewell to the remains of these unnamed champions.

General Radan, Speaker at the Funeral Ceremony of the Unknown Martyrs
General Radan, the commander of Faraja, stated in his speech:
“A martyr, at the moment of martyrdom, becomes—according to the Supreme Leader—a source of light for society. The funeral of martyrs among the people signifies that the nation sees them as sources of illumination and blessing. Martyrs are teachers of rationality, morality, and social insight. Today, every page of their wills can guide our people toward clarity and wisdom. A society that stands with its martyrs and does not forget their memory will never fall into fear or doubt. This fear and hopelessness are what the enemy desires in order to break the defensive strongholds of this nation.
‘The unknown martyrs, with their anonymity, brought honor and dignity to this nation; they elevated the name of Iran in epics and in confronting the enemy.’”
