The First National Meeting on “Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries” was held on December 20, 2025.

At this meeting, Dr. Hossein Amadi, one of the participants and the country’s first PhD holder in Fisheries, referred to the holding of the inaugural edition of the event and described it as having significant scientific and practical value despite certain shortcomings.

He stated in an interview with Hosseini, a reporter for the Sedaye Sama news agency, that despite the weak presence of some officials and certain coordination issues affecting the order of the meeting, the presentations delivered by the speakers were generally valuable and useful; although some of the presentations were largely translated content. According to him, the absence or tardiness of some managers somewhat overshadowed the efforts of the organizers, particularly Dr. Ataei.

Emphasizing the necessity of continuing such meetings, Dr. Amadi noted that sustaining these programs and upgrading them to the level of a national conference in the near future could yield important achievements for the country’s production sector and food security.

He further stressed that recognizing and applying modern scientific and practical findings—especially in the field of artificial intelligence—plays a vital role in advancing livestock production and aquaculture. If these capacities are properly and knowledge-basedly utilized, at the very least, fish consumption in the country could reach the global average; given Iran’s natural endowments, achieving levels beyond the global average is also attainable.
