World Bank: Three governance indicators in Iran have improved

The World Bank has released its latest estimates of governance indicators for countries around the world, including Iran, for the year 2024, reporting improvements in three governance indicators in Iran during this year.
The indicators examined in this report include voice and accountability, political stability and absence of violence, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law, and control of corruption. Each country is assigned a score ranging from 0 to 100 for each indicator, with higher scores indicating better performance.
According to the World Bank’s estimates, Iran saw improvements in three indicators in 2024 compared to the previous year: voice and accountability, control of corruption, and government effectiveness. Iran’s government scored 29.75 in the voice and accountability indicator in 2024, representing an increase of 0.01 points compared to the previous year.
The government effectiveness score also rose from 36.95 in 2023 to 37.61 in 2024, indicating improved governmental performance during this year.
In the control of corruption indicator, Iran’s score increased from 24.15 in 2023 to 24.63 in 2024, reflecting an improvement in efforts to combat financial corruption over the year.
However, Iran experienced declines in three other indicators in 2024. The country’s political stability score was reported at 38.89 in 2024, down from 44.21 in 2023.
In terms of regulatory quality, Iran’s score fell from 31.7 in 2023 to 31.03 in 2024. The rule of law indicator also declined, with the score decreasing from 36.3 in 2023 to 35.71 in 2024.
