An unprecedented $2.5 billion allocation for corridor development

During his visit to Golestan Province, Masoud Pezeshkian met with investors and economic activists to discuss cooperation and development plans.

In part of the meeting, the President referred to the development of transport corridors as a definite government priority and stated: “For the first time, an unprecedented allocation of $2.5 billion has been dedicated to corridor development. This amount is in addition to the approximately $10 billion that, with the authorization of Ali Khamenei, is to be financed from a portion of oil revenues to complete the country’s roads and corridors.”

Pezeshkian emphasized the government’s firm determination in this area, saying: “There is no doubt that corridor development is a top priority, and we are moving forward decisively. The first step is to define and secure financial resources. Alongside public funding, we have sought to actively engage the private sector.”

He also noted that the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development will hold a meeting with private, public, governmental, and municipal investors to enhance coordination and accelerate the development of public transportation and corridor infrastructure. He described this sector as one of the government’s strategic priorities, with implementation progressing at speed.

The President further stressed the need to amend restrictive regulations, stating that all laws and rules hindering infrastructure projects must be reviewed and, if necessary, eliminated. / Tasnim
