Admiral Tangsiri: We Are Ready to Close the Strait of Hormuz

Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who is overseeing the main phase of the force’s exercise in the Strait of Hormuz, stated regarding the possible closure of the strait: The decision to close the Strait of Hormuz rests with the country’s senior leadership, and as a soldier, I say that we are ready to carry out this action whenever our leaders order it.
Tangsiri emphasized that the weapons used in wartime are different from those seen during military exercises.
According to Tasnim News Agency, maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz was suspended for several hours to conduct the exercise. According to the admiral, when “clear” is announced, vessels remain behind the Strait.
According to the report, the second phase of the “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz” exercise was held to ensure security and safe navigation, with the participation of IRGC naval combat and rapid-reaction units. Various defensive and offensive systems and weapons were deployed during the drill, and, according to military experts present, designated targets were destroyed with the highest precision.
IRGC Navy fast missile-launching vessels also conducted missile drills, with missiles launched from inland areas, Iran’s coasts, and islands in the Persian Gulf, striking their targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
Drone units also practiced operations using attack and reconnaissance UAVs in signal-jamming environments, accurately striking both fixed and moving targets.
