Section Six: Untold Stories and Behind-the-Scenes Documents (Part Two)

Sources familiar with the matter say that Qassem Soleimani, in limited and friendly meetings with Iraqi officials and political figures, emphasized the need to maintain calm, prevent enemies from exploiting the protest environment, and stop the crisis from spreading across the country. He reportedly warned: “The enemy seeks to hijack the voice of the people and turn it into fire and blood; Iraq must not be allowed to fall once again into the path of destruction.”

The accusations raised by Mike Pompeo and Western media against him were part of a psychological operation aimed at tarnishing the image of a commander who acted as a strong barrier against Iraq’s fragmentation, the return of ISIS, and the expansion of U.S. influence in the region. What the West termed “transfer of suppression strategies” was, in reality, the transfer of experience in defending the security and stability of nations against destructive projects by Washington and its allies—a hard-earned experience achieved through the blood and sacrifices of the Resistance Axis.

Lebanon: Strengthening Hezbollah and Managing Political Crises

In Lebanon, Soleimani played a key role in strengthening Hezbollah as Iran’s main regional arm. He was involved not only in supplying weapons and military training but also in strategic coordination with the group’s leaders, including Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. During the 2006 Lebanon War with Israel, Soleimani served as a military advisor to Hezbollah and, according to some sources, contributed to the design of the group’s defensive and offensive strategies. This collaboration led to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in 2000 and reinforced Hezbollah’s position as a political and military force in the region.

During Lebanon’s political crises, particularly between 2011 and 2014, Soleimani helped manage tensions and maintain the stability of Iranian-aligned governments through secret negotiations with Lebanese political leaders. He also coordinated with Hezbollah to support the Assad government in Syria, with Hezbollah forces under his guidance being deployed to Syrian fronts.
