Statement of the Federation of Energy Exports of Iran on the Occasion of National Export Day (October 21)

According to the Sedaye Sama News Agency, Statement of the Federation of Energy Exports of Iran on the Occasion of National Export Day (October 21)

The 21th of October, National Export Day, is a reminder of the esteemed position of exporters in the dynamism of the national economy and the sustainable development of the country.
This day is an opportunity to review the country’s economic and monetary policies and to strengthen the role of the private sector in the path toward the growth of non-oil exports.

According to the Horizon 2025 Vision Document, achieving 200 billion dollars in foreign exchange revenue with an 80 percent share of non-oil exports was set as a strategic goal.
However, the realization of this goal requires fundamental reforms in the country’s economic structures, monetary policies, and banking system.
The Central Bank must move away from its restrictive role and, by assuming a facilitating function, provide the necessary conditions to enhance exporters’ motivation and strengthen the country’s foreign exchange income.

The Federation of Energy Exports of Iran believes that setting the purchase rate of export foreign currency higher than the free market rate, instead of the current punitive policies, can increase exporters’ motivation and competitiveness and lead to sustainable export growth.

Furthermore, the Chambers of Commerce across the country must, by utilizing their financial capacities and accumulated assets, take steps toward the establishment of a specialized export bank.
This bank, by focusing on financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), issuing export guarantees, and providing targeted facilities, can play an effective role in developing non-oil exports.

The Federation of Energy Exports of Iran, while congratulating all economic actors of the country on National Export Day, emphasizes that only through synergy, reform of macroeconomic policies, and empowering the private sector can the engine of the country’s exports move forward more powerfully than before, paving the way toward a sustainable economy.
