Shiite Coalitions’ Seats Based on Unofficial Figures

Iraqi legal expert Jamal Al-Asadi stated, based on unofficial data, that Shiite lists managed to secure at least 185 seats in the sixth parliamentary elections, which is higher than their number of seats in the previous parliamentary term and contrary to earlier predictions that expected their seats to drop below 180.

Al-Sudani’s Coalition Leading in Baghdad

The Rudaw network, a media outlet from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, reported that the Reconstruction and Development Coalition led by Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani is currently leading in the Baghdad electoral district, having won 18 seats so far in the ongoing vote count of the sixth parliamentary elections.

  • The State of Law Coalition, led by Nouri Al-Maliki, won 9 seats;

  • The Taqaddum (Progress) Coalition, one of the main Sunni Arab groups led by Mohammed Al-Halbousi, won 9 seats;

  • The National State Forces Coalition, led by Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, won 5 seats;

  • The Sadiqoon Coalition, led by Sheikh Qais Al-Khazali, won 5 seats;

  • The Badr Coalition, led by Hadi Al-Amiri, won 4 seats;

  • The Al-Asas Coalition, led by Mandalawi, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, won 4 seats;

  • The Azm (Determination) Coalition, representing Sunni Arab minorities and led by Muthanna Al-Samarrai, won 3 seats;

  • The Siyada (Sovereignty) Coalition, led by Khamis Al-Khanjar, won 3 seats.

Unofficial Seat Distribution for Kurdish Parties and Alliances:

  • Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP): 29 seats (2 fewer than the previous term).

  • Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK): 18 seats (1 more than the previous term).

  • National Approach Movement: 5 seats.

  • Kurdistan Islamic Union: 4 seats.

  • New Generation Movement: 3 seats (6 fewer than the previous term).

  • Islamic Group: 1 seat.
