Al Jazeera: Ayatollah Khamenei’s Funeral Was the Largest Funeral Ever Recorded in History

 

According to the Sedaye Sama News Agency, Al Jazeera reported that the funeral procession of Ayatollah Khamenei was, according to the report, officially the largest funeral ever recorded in history.

The report states that the body of the “martyred Imam” will be taken to Qom on Tuesday, Tir 16, for funeral prayers and a procession. On Wednesday, Tir 17, it will be transferred to Najaf for circumambulation and funeral ceremonies at the Shrine of Imam Ali, followed by the shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas in Karbala. The report further says that the body will be buried on Thursday, Tir 18, at the Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.

The report also says that English-language media covered what it described as the attendance of millions at the funeral. According to the report, outlets including CBS referred to the participation of millions of mourners.

It further cites coverage by the Associated Press, The Guardian, the BBC, The Independent, Reuters, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, CNN, NBC, CBS, The Wall Street Journal, Anadolu Agency, and France 24, stating that these organizations reported on the event using similar language.
