Pezeshkian: We do not seek war, but we will respond decisively to aggression

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, discussed the latest regional developments in a telephone conversation on Friday afternoon, 10 Bahman 1404.

During the call, Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the support and positions of Islamic countries toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing the importance of sustained and coordinated efforts by regional countries to reduce tensions and help consolidate peace and stability.

Outlining the principled approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in foreign policy, the President stated that strengthening and expanding relations with neighboring and Islamic countries in all fields is among Iran’s strategic priorities. He stressed that reinforcing fraternal ties, strengthening unity and cohesion in the Islamic world, and expanding regional cooperation are fundamental pillars of Iran’s foreign policy. He also underscored the importance of fostering convergence, synergy, and national consensus domestically among all groups, factions, ethnicities, and religions as a key approach in Iran’s internal policy.

Pezeshkian went on to refer to hostile actions by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Iranian nation, including pressure and sanctions, the imposition of a 12-day war, incitement and support for rioters and recent unrest, as well as threatening and warmongering positions. Emphasizing that maintaining security and establishing lasting peace and stability in the region are core priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he stated: Iran has never welcomed and does not welcome war and considers it to be in no one’s interest; however, Western parties have unfortunately shown through their actions that, despite their claims, they lack practical commitment to diplomacy and the principles of international law.

Reiterating Iran’s policy of “dignified diplomacy,” the President said: The Islamic Republic of Iran’s approach is based on interaction and dialogue within the framework of international law, mutual respect, and avoidance of threats and the use of force to resolve issues. At the same time, any aggression against Iran and its people will be responded to immediately and decisively.

For his part, the President of the United Arab Emirates expressed satisfaction with the conversation with Pezeshkian, referred to his country’s diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region, and praised the principled approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue to resolve issues and avoid war.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed also emphasized the UAE’s readiness for any form of cooperation and constructive role in diplomatic processes aimed at achieving security-enhancing solutions and contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
