According to Sedaye Sama News, the funeral ceremony for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei began in Tehran with a large turnout of mourners. Thousands of people gathered around Tehran’s Grand Mosalla from the previous night and entered the venue in the early morning.

The streets surrounding the Mosalla were filled with crowds from the early hours of the day. Participants carried flags and religious symbols, attending the ceremony in an atmosphere marked by both grief and anger.

An estimated 30 million people are expected to participate in various funeral and mourning ceremonies over the six-day period.

The Guardian described the farewell ceremony as a display of resilience and of the strength of the Islamic Republic in the face of the United States and Israel. According to the report, mourners also chanted slogans calling for “revenge” against those they regarded as responsible for the recent attacks.
