Maariv: Netanyahu’s Illness Casts a Shadow Over Israel’s War Decisions

The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” reported that amid growing doubts about Netanyahu’s ability to manage the war due to his deteriorating health and the surrounding ambiguities, Tel Aviv has reached a deadlock in translating its so-called “military achievements” into political outcomes, particularly given Trump’s decision-making power.
According to Maariv, the Zionist regime faces difficulties in managing the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the war against Iran. This is because these conflicts were initiated while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was undergoing complex medical treatments, preventing “major military achievements” from evolving into political actions.
The Challenge of Hezbollah Operations
The report further noted that with Donald Trump in control—without the regime’s political leaders having influence over his decisions—the situation has reversed. Faced with Hezbollah’s continuous attacks from dawn till dusk, the Israeli army finds itself in a position where it cannot launch offensive operations.
Netanyahu’s Health and Doubts Over His Leadership
Regarding his health, Maariv highlighted that his prostate cancer is a serious condition, exacerbated by existing heart problems. The psychological and physical side effects, including his inability to manage affairs, impact on rapid decision-making, and potential memory loss, have raised significant concerns.
Medical Secrecy Regarding Netanyahu’s Condition
The newspaper revealed, based on medical correspondents, that Hadassah Hospital has adopted a policy of secrecy regarding Netanyahu’s treatment. Maariv acknowledged that this is not the first time hospitals have misled the public about his health, a trend it described as worrying for the regime’s security, citing similar historical precedents with former leaders like Golda Meir and Menachem Begin.
