Smart management will replace power outages

According to the Sedaye Sama News Agency, Mohsen Zabihi, Deputy for Distribution Coordination at Tavanir Company, stated on the sidelines of the 29th International Conference on Power Distribution Networks:
“At present, the monthly installation capacity is around 140,000 meters, but to meet the needs of the grid, this number must increase to between 400,000 and 500,000 units per month.”
Zabihi noted that accelerating the implementation of smart grid projects is essential, emphasizing that Tavanir’s goal is to enhance controllability of consumption and replace power cuts with smart management policies.
He added: “Several projects are currently underway in this field; some are being pursued within Tavanir, while others require cooperation from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, the Central Bank, and other related institutions.”
Zabihi explained that smart meters enable monitoring and managing consumers’ electricity usage, and without these tools, controlling consumption amid rapidly growing demand is nearly impossible.
He continued: “Through three or four tender models, we plan to procure and install around 10 to 12 million smart meters before next summer’s peak season.”
The Deputy for Distribution Coordination at Tavanir emphasized that the company has planned to establish an appropriate structure within distribution companies to develop renewable power plants, and the directive for creating this new structure will be issued soon.
