Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Pakistan holds high strategic importance for Iran in both economic and security fields

According to the Sedaye Sama News Agency, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated in the morning session of the parliament on Sunday, in his speech before the agenda: “First, it is necessary to once again remind of the livelihood problems that have made life difficult for the people. It is clear that addressing these problems at their root requires serious structural actions in the economic field, but by focusing on three issues—implementing the ration card system in a new way, reducing housing problems, and planning for healthcare—effective steps can be taken to improve the daily life of the people. We will discuss the details in the future, but for now, I ask the esteemed government to make necessary decisions on issues that have experienced failures in the past with a comprehensive view.”
Ghalibaf added: “The United States must accept the legal, political, and military consequences of the Israeli aggression against Iran. Following the explicit admission by the U.S. President of direct responsibility for the Israeli attack, which constitutes a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter, and our national sovereignty, I, on behalf of the noble Iranian nation, strongly condemn this heinous act and declare that the United States, according to international law, must bear the legal, political, and military consequences of this blatant aggression, which has resulted in the martyrdom of many of our citizens. The Iranian nation, with unity and strength, will stand against any threat and hold aggressors accountable for their actions.”
He also stated: “I find it necessary to provide the nation and the honorable representatives with a report on my recent visit to the brotherly and neighboring country, Pakistan. This visit was made in line with the Supreme Leader’s request from the parliament and within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy, upon invitation from the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Mr. Ayaz Sadiq. One of the purposes of the visit was to convey the appreciation of the people and the Supreme Leader for the support of the parliament and officials, especially the Pakistani people, and another objective was to strengthen economic, cultural, and security relations between the two countries.”
Ghalibaf added: “Pakistan holds high strategic importance for Iran in economic, cultural, and security fields, as the trade needs of both countries complement each other, they share deep cultural ties, there are important potentials for security and defense cooperation, and Pakistan’s geographical location can serve as a bridge connecting Iran to East Asia and beyond.”
He noted that during the three-day visit, the Iranian parliamentary delegation met with senior Pakistani officials, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, Acting President, Senate Speaker, Prime Minister, and Army Chief, and held two cordial meetings with Iranian and Pakistani economic activists and political and cultural elites.
He emphasized that discussions included implementing cooperative agreements signed during the President’s visit, increasing bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, facilitating commodity barter by improving infrastructure, finalizing free trade processes, expanding border cooperation, developing joint markets, strengthening border security, and planning for trilateral cooperation among Iran, China, and Pakistan—hoping that the governments of the two countries will soon deliver tangible results.
He concluded: “I would like to express special thanks to the great people of Pakistan. Their warm and enthusiastic reception of the Iranian delegation, especially in Islamabad and Karachi, demonstrated the depth of love and brotherhood between the two nations. Participating in Friday prayers in Karachi was a memorable moment, where Pakistani worshippers welcomed the Iranian delegation with unexpected enthusiasm, expressing support for Iran and Palestine, creating unforgettable scenes. This visit was a significant step in strengthening the unity of the two countries, and I hope joint efforts will build a brighter future for both nations.”
