Russia has become the world’s largest wheat exporter.

According to TASS news agency, Oksana Lut, Russia’s Minister of Agriculture, announced that the country exported approximately 41 million tons of wheat in 2025, maintaining its position as the world’s largest wheat exporter.
At the World Grain and Legume Forum, she stated: “From the perspective of grain exports, the total shipment volume last year reached 50 million metric tons, of which 41 million tons were wheat, allowing Russia to retain its global lead in wheat exports.”
She added that, based on the 2025 harvest, Russia’s export capacity for 2026 is estimated at around 55 million tons.
The Minister also noted that 78% of Russia’s wheat exports are directed to countries in Africa and the Middle East.
Over the past decade, Russia has become the world’s largest wheat exporter, capturing an increasing share of markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Cost advantages in production, a weaker currency, and investments in Black Sea port infrastructure have made Russian wheat more price-competitive compared to traditional suppliers such as the U.S., Canada, and the European Union.
