Iran’s Trade Balance with Eurasia Rises by 18% Last Year

According to Sedaye Sama News Agency, Mohammad Roshan, Deputy Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, highlighted the impact of regional trade agreements on expanding economic exchanges, stating that the 18% increase in Iran’s trade balance with Eurasia last year demonstrates the effectiveness of such agreements in improving the country’s trade performance.
He added that, under trade agreements with the Eurasian region, 89% of tariffs on goods traded between the parties have been exempted from customs duties, helping liberalize trade and increase commercial exchanges.
Roshan also noted that trade relations with member states of the Eurasian Economic Union have been expanding. Over the past three months, large trade delegations comprising business representatives have been sent to exhibitions and commercial events in the region, with efforts to develop trade with Eurasia being pursued more vigorously.
Referring to the recent visit by an Iranian delegation to Belarus, Roshan said that discussions with Belarusian business partners had taken place approximately ten days earlier, and cooperation had reached a more concrete stage. The two sides now have a clearer understanding of which goods Iran can export to Belarus and which products it can import in return.
He emphasized that accurately identifying export and import capacities and determining the goods suitable for bilateral trade could pave the way for the targeted expansion of Iran’s trade relations with member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
