Strait of Hormuz Remains Under Iranian Control

According to a report by the “Seda-ye Sama” news agency, maritime tracking data reveals that control over the Strait of Hormuz is fully subject to the will and dominance of Iran. Accordingly, in the past 24 hours and prior to the announcement of the closure of the Strait by the IRGC, only five vessels navigated through the route designated by Iran. Furthermore, in a statement declaring the closure of the Strait last night, the IRGC targeted two vessels that had deactivated their Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) and intended to pass through non-authorized routes.

Among the vessels struck by precision missiles of the Iranian forces last night was the GFS Galaxy, sailing under the Cypriot flag. Its last recorded position two days ago was between the ports of Sohar in Oman and Jebel Ali in the UAE. Following the missile strike, one crew member is reported missing, and the ship’s engine room sustained severe damage. Additionally, the IRGC stated in the concluding part of its communique that due to the insecurity caused by the illegal intervention of foreigners, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice and until the end of U.S. interventions in the region; no vessel will be permitted to transit. / Tasnim
