The Burial Place of the Martyred Leader of the Revolution is Near the Holy Shrine

According to the “Seda-ye Sama” news agency, the head of the Information and Media Office of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza stated: “The holy body of our Martyred Leader and his esteemed family will be transferred to one of the porticos (riwaqs) near the Holy Shrine after the funeral procession and prayer. The burial ceremony will take place in that location, attended by the family and the House of the Martyred Leader.”
Hujjat al-Islam Moslem Hosshangi told reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of the funeral: “The courtyards of the Holy Shrine and the surrounding streets are now filled with pilgrims and residents from all over the country. The crowd gathered to renew their covenant with the Martyred Leader and the servant of Imam Reza (as) is beyond imagination.” He added that guests from 27 countries are present for the funeral and burial ceremonies.
He noted that the body of the Martyred Leader has arrived in the holy city of Mashhad following an official reception at the airport. The funeral procession will proceed from 15 Khordad Square (Felake Zedd) toward the Holy Shrine along Imam Reza Street. Hosshangi mentioned that prayers for the Martyred Leader and his family would be held in the Prophet’s Courtyard and all other courtyards, porticos, and streets leading to the shrine, including Navab Safavi, Ayatollah Shirazi, and Tabarsi streets. He also stated that the “Laylat al-Dafn” (Night of Burial) prayer will be held nationwide at 8:00 PM.
Special farewell and funeral ceremonies began on Friday, July 3rd (12 Tir), with tributes from political officials of over 45 countries, religious scholars, and scientists from more than 90 nations. On Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th, the Tehran Musalla hosted mourners from across the country. The funeral in Tehran took place on Monday, July 6th, followed by ceremonies in Qom and the Jamkaran Mosque on Tuesday, July 7th. On Wednesday, July 8th, Iraqi citizens in Najaf and Karbala held an unprecedented procession; official sources stated that nearly four million people, including religious and political figures, attended the funeral of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The final funeral and burial of the Martyred Leader took place on Thursday, July 9th (18 Tir), coinciding with the 24th of Muharram and the night of the martyrdom of Imam Sajjad (as), in the city of Mashhad, where his holy body was laid to rest in the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (as).
In the attack by the United States and the Zionist regime on the Leader’s residence on February 18, 2026 (9 Esfand 1404), Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several members of his family attained martyrdom. Among the martyrs were Shahid Mesbah-ol-Hoda Bagheri-Kani (husband of Hoda Khamenei), Bushra Khamenei and her 14-month-old daughter Zahra Mohammadi Golpaygani, and Zahra Haddad-Adel (wife of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader). / IRNA
