Syria Introduces New Banknotes

The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria announced that starting from January 1, 2026 (corresponding to January 11), the replacement of old banknotes with new ones will begin.
Reuters reported that the country will issue new banknotes and remove two zeros from its national currency.
This move is aimed at strengthening Syria’s national currency following an unprecedented decline in its purchasing power./ Donyaye Eghtesad
